Deep Space Robotics
FRC Team 6884 — a student-led robotics club at Hollister High School, building robots and future engineers since 2017.
Who we are
Deep Space Robotics competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), designing, building, and programming a competitive robot each season — entirely student-led, with mentor support.
Student-led, community-funded
The team runs on sponsorships, fundraisers, and donations through San Benito Robotics, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every contribution directly funds parts, tools, and competition fees.
Get involved
Students and parents can learn how to join, mentors and sponsors can see how to support the team, and the community can shop team gear at our team store.
Our story
Hollister is a rural agricultural community that, until 2017, had no outlet for students to pursue their STEAM passions. Eight founding members changed that, starting Deep Space Robotics from scratch. Since then the team has grown to more than five times its original size, with parents, mentors, Hollister High School, and local organizations helping it break through barriers once thought impossible in a community like ours.
In our community
Beyond competition, DSR works to bring STEAM to Hollister's youngest students and to give back to the community that supports us.
FIRST LEGO League
In partnership with Hollister School District, we mentor younger students in FIRST LEGO League, giving them an early, low-barrier path into STEAM.
Community Day & Tech Innovation Day
Team-hosted events where members demonstrate and share what they've built while promoting FIRST values across the community.
Breakfast with Santa
An annual community tradition the team helps host, alongside ongoing local volunteering and cleanup efforts.
Conectado Partnership
Through our partnership with Conectado, members can earn certifications in fields like precision medicine and cloud computing — building career skills alongside robotics ones.
