Deep Space Robotics spent October 16–18 at Woodside High School for CalGames, an offseason event with 35 robots from around the Bay Area.
Qualifications didn’t go our way. We finished 3–7 and ranked 31st. But alliance selection isn’t only about win-loss records. Antares (6962), our alliance partner at Sunset Showdown and the 6th seed, picked us second for Alliance 4, along with MVRT (115). Our defense has a reputation, and Antares knew it.
Our playoff run (double elimination):
- Won 336–110 over Alliance 5 (SF UNITY, Funky Monkeys, Boba Bots)
- Lost 374–398 to Alliance 1, the eventual event winners
- Won 255–127 over Alliance 6 (Gatorbotics, M-A Bears, Bearium)
- Won 407–178 over Alliance 3 (barn2robotics, Janksters, Highlander Robotics)
- Lost 303–329 to Alliance 2, which went on to the finals
Both of our losses came against the two alliances that played in the finals, by a combined 50 points. Being one match from the finals puts us third by the bracket.
Our partners did well too: MVRT won the Autonomous Award and Antares won the Imagery Award. Congratulations to the winning alliance (Gear Gremlins 3045, BREAD 5940, Basement Bots 4990, The Missfits 6418) and thanks to Woodside High School and Team 100 for hosting.
